Western's
Smokehouse,
located in Greentop, Missouri, was founded in 1978 by
Sam Western, an entrepreneur who has a long history in
meat processing. In fact, Sam spent his childhood
helping his father butcher beef and hogs on their
small farm, not far from where his smokehouse is
located today. In 1978, at the age of twenty-six, Sam
decided that he wanted to build his own meat
processing business.
Sam began butchering for local farmers and now his
company is distributing all over the United States.
The business continues to grow each year. Western's
Smokehouse began as one small building and, with the
growing business, more buildings have been added
around the original smokehouse. Sam’s son, Kevin,
continued the family tradition by joining the business
in 1992.
When walking into Western's Smokehouse one cannot
help but notice all of the awards that adorn the
walls.
Western's
has won awards in all different areas, including
national acclaim for their hickory smoked ham's flavor
profile.
A huge map of the United States hangs to the left of
the entrance that indicates, with red pins, the
customers of Western's Market that come from all over the
country. In fact, on the day
of the interview there was a couple that had driven
from Kansas City, Missouri to purchase six coolers
full of Western's products. They said that they have
been coming to Western's for years, and have to make
the special trip in order to get the unforgettable
meats. Speaking of unforgettable, Western's also
carries a wide assortment of unique flavors and meats
including pineapple brats and buffalo burgers.
Whatever the customer is looking for, they are almost
guaranteed to find it at Western's Market.
Western's
Smokehouse carries a variety of products, from
hickory-smoked gourmet ham to a variety of snack
sticks. Western's even offers hickory-smoked dog chews
for all the pet lovers. They even offer a Meat of the
Month Club, which sends one of Western's Smokehouse
favorites to your door every month.
Western's Smokehouse items may be ordered in a variety
of ways. Customers may order toll-free, by mail, by
fax, and now customers may even order on-line through
Western's own interactive website at
www.westerns-smokehouse.com. Western's has even begun
showcasing their i tems
in fundraising catalogs, which has proven to be very
profitable. During their peak season (November through
January) Western's ships out 300- 500 orders daily.

offers over twenty-two entree choices, thirty-two side
dishes, and over sixteen delicious desserts.The menu
is homemade and specific to each event’s needs. Last
year alone, Western's catered over 1,000 events.

profiles, some of which have won national acclaim.
They also make their own barbeque sauce and steak
marinades on site.Sam Western is always trying to have
the best products. He attends tradeshows and seminars
to make sure to keep up with the demand.
