Bogie's Steak House is located in Albia, Iowa and has been open since 1990.  It is owned and operated by Kevin and Toni Walter.  They decided to open up Bogies Steakhouse in 1990 because there wasn’t a place that specialized in steaks in the area. From day one, they have been open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 pm to close and that has worked for them extremely well.  One of the best things Kevin and Toni say about owning and operating Bogies is that they are having fun with it.  They truly love what they do and enjoy it and that really shows.

Bogie's has a lot of customers that come in on a weekly basis from about a 75 mile radius. They know people from all over the United States and other countries as well, due to the draw of international visitors at a few local international plants.  Bogie's gets a big draw from boaters, fisherman and hunters who are visiting Lake Rathbun. They actually have a group of hunters from the Cedar Rapids area that have been coming in the same day of the second gun season for 21 years! Now that says something!

Bogie's has a rustic feel to it, with a dark wooden paneling surrounding the bottom portion of all walls and pictures of different wildlife animals mounted on the walls throughout the restaurant.  Perhaps the most popular item in Bogie's is their replica of a world record deer.  This deer was the 3rd largest in the world, it is a 38 point Buck! People come in and take pictures with the famous deer and pose with it.  There is also a framed illustration on the wall next to the deer that an artist did of the deer itself.

Bogie's Steak House was recently featured on Iowa Public Television’s segment, “Iowa’s Simple Pleasures”.  This is still running on television today.  Kevin and Toni say that people come in saying they saw their television special and a lot come from far away just to experience it for themselves. You may be wondering why a steak house has a Bull Dog for a logo.  Well, Bogie’s is named after Kevin and Toni’s Bull dog, Bogie.

Bogie's chooses to do business with Kohl Wholesale because Kohl is extremely willing to work on what they want and need and always take care of them.  They say their sales representative, Brad Brauman, is very nice and has really gotten to know what they are looking for over the years.  They keep it simple and they don’t change their menu.  If you came in 10 years ago for a prime rib and then came in today for a prime rib, they would taste the same.  Kevin and Toni also spoke very highly of their delivery driver, Bill Denniston.  They say he is outstanding, reliable and takes great care of them.

Bogie's slogan is “You can’t beat our meat”. They are best known for their prime rib, it is second to none and keeps people coming back for more.  All of the meat at Bogies is hand-cut and aged in their own coolers. They cook over a charcoal stove which gives your meat that real charcoal taste. Patrons can stand at the stove, which sits in the dining room and is surrounded with brick, and watch their food being cooked and have the opportunity to converse with the chefs and ask questions.

Bogie's serves steaks and chops, baked loin and fish, their ultimate prime rib as well as chicken and ham.  There is something to satisfy any taste bud.  All entrees include a trip to the salad bar, a baked potato and texas toast. If you aren’t in the mood for an entrée, they have a selection of sandwiches too, which are all served with a baked potato.  None of the food is fried at Bogie's. On Wednesday’s and Thursday’s, while supplies last, their special is their Bogies Steak Burger.  It is a 16 ounce burger served on texas toast and topped with American and swiss cheese and served with a baked potato.
