Whether you are a resident of or just passing through “America’s Hometown”, you must experience “America’s Hometown Grill.” Drakes Steak & Ale is located at 421 Clinic Road in Hannibal, Missouri and has been open since February, 2010. Drakes Steak & Ale is a destination in Hannibal that you do not want to miss. Famous for their smoked menu, Drake’s has food that is sure to make your mouth water and your stomach full. Drake’s offers customers good, full servings at an excellent value, which is hard to find.
Drake’s Steak & Ale is owned by Kevin and Clara Howell and Tim and Jennifer Hart. Their love of hunting and the outdoors is evident in the logo and the restaurant’s name. The logo features a duck silhouette and the restaurant’s name, “Drake’s” is a reference to ducks. Having been in the foodservice business for 17 years prior to Drake’s, they decided to give the restaurant business a shot after several years of people asking where they could go in the area to get the same quality food on a regular basis …and what a kill it turned out to be!!
Making the decision to dine out at Drake’s is one you will not regret or soon forget. As soon as you step foot inside, you feel at home and are comforted by the warm paint colors, earthy motif and the natural aroma of the wood fired grill. Warm shades of green and blue, along with the wooden beams and walls compliment the pictures of nature throughout the restaurant and tie in with the overall theme of the outdoors. A big bar is set in the middle of the restaurant, where customers can come in and eat, catch a game on television and enjoy their full service bar.
The savory steaks are unique to Drake’s Steak & Ale because they are all cooked on Drake’s very own wood fired grill. When cooking over hard wood, a much different flavor is reached, one that can’t be created over a traditional gas stove. This gives the food a more traditional flavor which only your taste buds can describe. Choose from 7 different steak entrée options or try a ribeye steak sandwich or steak salad.
Drake’s Steak & Ale features many menu items right off their smoker, giving these entrees a flavor beyond compare. Customers can choose from Smoked Pork Steak, Baby Back Ribs, Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Smoked Salmon and even a Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich. All of Drake’s meat; their steaks, chicken, chops and burgers, come fresh, never frozen, making a huge difference when it comes to taste.
The soups, desserts and appetizers at Drake’s Steak & Ale are all made in house by their excellent prep staff. It takes extra time and effort to prepare these from scratch but that sort of homemade taste can’t be found at other restaurants. Drake’s does not cut any corners and that is evident in the taste and quality of food they serve.
Their jalapeno poppers are not battered, breaded or deep fried. Instead, they are made from fresh peppers that are fire roasted and stuffed with a cream cheese, sausage and spice mixture and wrapped with hickory smoked bacon. The mozzarella sticks are made from real mozzarella cheese that is cut, seasoned and wrapped to perfection. Their onion rings and stuffed mushrooms are both also made from fresh ingredients and the proof lies in the flavor.
Drake’s homemade soups are available daily and include a steak & ale chowder, which has fresh filet and ribeye chunks, and a homemade chili. A soup of the day is also offered and delicious creations such as smoked salmon chowder are featured.
Drake’s Steak & Ale is open for business 5 days a week:
| Tuesday through Thursday |
11:00am-9:00pm |
| Friday and Saturday |
11:00am-10:00pm |
Come in on a Wednesday and enjoy smoked prime rib. A 10 oz prime rib is only $12 and the 16 oz only $18 and they both come with your choice of 2 sides, like a baked sweet potato or texas hashbrown casserole. Carry-out is also available, along with their free Wi-Fi.
Drake’s chooses Kohl Wholesale because they had dealt with Kohl previously and knew that the quality and customer service could not be found anywhere else. Their salesman, Kenny Williams, along with the convenience and location of Kohl Wholesale’s Cash & Carry Showroom, are also big reasons why they choose Kohl for all their foodservice needs. If Drake’s runs out of something, they can call the order into Kohl’s warehouse and go pick it up at the Cash & Carry. Convenience like that cannot be beat.
